How are stories ranked?
Ranking is determined by a combination of points (upvotes), clicks, and time since submission. Upvotes carry 75% weight and clicks carry 25%. Newer stories are given more weight to keep the front page fresh. You can switch between "trending", "relevant", and "new" filters on the main page.
How do I submit a question?
Go to the submit page, enter a title, and leave the URL blank. Use the "text" field to provide context. Your post will automatically be categorized as "Ask".
What is "Show K. Notes"?
It's a way to share something you've built with the community. Projects should be functional and interactive. Click "submit as show" on the submit page to tag your post.
What is karma?
Karma is the total number of upvotes on all your submissions. You can see your karma on your profile page. Higher karma indicates more contributions valued by the community.
How do I save posts for later?
Click the "save" link next to any story. Saved posts appear in the "Saved Posts" section on your profile page. Click "saved ★" again to unsave. You must be logged in to save posts.
Can I undo an upvote?
Yes. Click the upvote arrow again on any story you've already upvoted and it will be removed.
On any story's discussion page, click the "share" link. On mobile, this opens the native share sheet. On desktop, the story link is copied to your clipboard.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes! On the main page, press j/k to navigate stories, o or Enter to open, u to upvote, and ? to see the full shortcuts list. See Lists for details.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Go to the login page, enter your email in the username field, and click "Forgot your password?". You'll receive a password reset email.
